James Biggers

Estes Park, Colorado

James Biggers’ goal is to portray emotion – to give his paintings such depth that viewers can go beyond what initially draws them in. “When someone tells me that they have had one of my paintings for years and can still feel emotion toward it, then I know I have succeeded as an artist,” says James, who feels that the “heart of a painting” is the most essential part. “Technique is what attracts people to a painting but heart is what keeps them there.” He feels the best way to capture “heart” is to paint from life and to continually search for new subject material. He has traveled across the United States, Costa Rica, Mexico, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Africa. His work is found in numerous private and public collections.
